Artist John Severin died today, age 90. I remember him from his Marvel Comics days and from his reprinted work on Mad (such as the example above, script by Harvey Kurtzman), where he was one of the five original artists. But he worked for all the majors, starting at EC, going on to DC, Warren and Dark Horse, besides Marvel.
A great inker and a great penciller who worked up until his death. A fan favorite who drew in all genres, from barbarian to Western to humor to superhero to war comics. Survived by his sister and fellow artist Marie, as well as by his wife of 60 years, Michelina.
